Kuba explains Marxist theories of historical development and outlines the pathway to communism that Marx laid out. He goes on to highlight the debates between Georgi Plekhanov and Vladimir Lenin over the applicability of Marxian theories to Tsarist Russia and emphasizes the revisions to the traditional Marxian schemata bought about by Lenin’s theory of imperialism. Finally, he shows how Lenin’s theories shaped the Russian revolution and why Lenin’s hopes for an international revolution were ultimately dashed.
